United Shapes Snowboards

The talented folks behind NY-based Owner Operator are getting into the snowboard business with their new brand, United Shapes. Their first board, the Space Cadet 001, a freeride-focused board designed by filmmaker and pro-snowboarder Gray Thompson. Tuned for his style of riding, the board shines in deep powder and is ideal for all-mountain riding.

The cadet is sized at 156cm and features their own proprietary camber profile, a subtle taper that enhances the ride in powder, and specially designed sidecut that is optimized for deep carving. As for construction, the board features a sandwich construction with an aspen/pine wood core, trixial fiberglass, directional carbon stringers, VDS dampening, a sintered base, and a structural base finish.

The Space Cadet is available for $ 485 at UnitedShapes.us.  (Via CoolHunting)

The first in a line of surf-inspired snowboards, Jones teams up with famed shaper Chris Christenson on the Mountain Surfer. The all-wood board allowed them to design a snowboard with surfboard rockers and a binding-less design that’s perfect for new riders and experts alike. The Mountain Surfer comes in at 4’6 (139cm) and features removable foot hooks, foam traction pad, and a leash with a carabiner clip in case you run into some trouble on the hill.

$ 349, Jones

Smokin Snowboards x Grassroots California

smokin dab Smokin Snowboards x Grassroots California
A collab between Smokin Snowboards and Grassroots California that involves THC? No way. As hard as it is to believe the snowboard brand and apparel company have joined forces for a board, facemask, and hat collaboration dedicated to the dab. With all over hi def wax/shatter graphics and of course a stash spot in the hat, this collection is perfect for those living in Washington and Colorado, anywhere else you’re just asking for a felony. More looks after the jump.

686 Snowboards Fall/Winter 2013 Lookbook

686-snowboarding-2013-fall-winter-lookbook-01

Snowboarding lavel 686 comes through with this expansive fall winter 2013 lookbook shot in the natural element. The action sports brand took to the slopes to shoot its new range of technical apparel, and also apparently to smoke a few joint (see below). Here we find 686 presenting quilted parkas, anoraks, crewneck sweaters, and weatherproof outer shells in some seriously high-visibility colorways. Full disclosure, I’ve owned 686 gear for years, but my praise for the brand has been well-deserved by the gear’s stellar performance year-in, year-out. You can shop the entire 686 Fall/Winter 2013 lookbook at at 686′s Online Shop.
